Doug Pritchard
Integration of bank authorization through the register of our point of
sale system(WATPOS) involved adherance to the strict guidelines of the host bank(Bank of
Montreal) and an understanding of the protocol utilized by the Bank's proprietary
communication hardware along with the communication nuances of the POS host system(IBM
AIX). It also required the ability to interact with the "support" facilities of
the telephone company. We were able to successfully accomplish this integration with the
valuable technical assistance of Jim Wang from the Bank of Montreal but even more
important to the effort was the end user involvement provided by Doug Pritchard, Bookstore
Manager at Seneca College. It was the first time that the Bank had integrated with a
multi-user system and testing of the communication interface was a tedious process. Doug
patiently endured the technical and bureaucratic issues that presented themselves as a
continuous challange to our effort. Initial implementation was only the beginning of a
process that required a great deal of Doug's attention to monitor, identify and help us to
resolve technical and operational problems. The ease of subsequent implementations of WISL
Bank Authorization was due in large measure to Doug's efforts in the initial project.

Seeming not to be deterred by the WISL BA experience Doug has continued
to offer his involvement as the beta site for WISL products. Seneca provided the hardware
for initial development of the PC based register for WATPOS. Doug was the first to
implement WISL Component/Package Retail Management(C/PRM) to address the needs of his
computer store. WISL Telephone Order Generation was implemented as the first step in
collecting student orders off-campus which has led to a project to interface with a
facility on the college's web site. We like Doug.
