Division Shipment Analysis

WISL WebDSA is a browser based data mining facility that provides for analysis of shipment information by corporate division. It utilizes the customer structure of the WISL Freight Analysis Information System Data Base which allows for specification of divisions at discrete locations and accumulation of these in "corporate" entities. The entire corporate data base may be considered by specifying "all" at the division prompt. Shipments may be viewed from two general perspectives, carrier and location(origin or destination) of the shipment.

Three basic report formats are provided at each of the two general perspectives. The first displays shipment data for the selected fiscal month and also displays corresponding data for the same month of a specified previous year. Each displayed carrier or location is a hyperlink that upon click drills down to display a report listing the shipments for the specified month in which the shipment occurs. Each shipment ID in the report is a hyperlink that upon click drills down to display a report listing the detail of the shipment. The second report displays shipment data for a specified fiscal month and also displays corresponding data for the year to date for the same fiscal year. The third report displays data accumulated for a specified period of fiscal months and also displays accumulated data for the corresponding period from a specified previous year. Report totals are displayed immediately below the column heading on each page of the report.

All displayed reports may be re-sorted by any of the listed data elements(alternately ascending and descending) by clicking on the desired column heading. Passing the cursor over any of the column headings initiates a display explaining the sort options.

An export capability generates a flat file with a record for each detail line in any selected report. A tab character serves as the delimiter between each column of the report. The generated file may be imported to any utility on the desktop(e.g. spreadsheet such as EXCEL).

The data base is initially generated from the operational data base and updated periodically by transactions from events in the production system. There is no theoretical limit to the number of previous years that may be stored for comparison.
