I. Introduction
The goal of WISL Webbill is to provide a web based facility for the collection of carrier probill records that may then be transferred to another WISL system(eg. WISL Shipment Analysis or WISL Billing) to be utilized for auditing or billing. It is anticipated that the facility could be used by shippers or carriers. If it is used by carriers to provide direct billing input under the license of a shipper a feature is optionally available(invoked by carrier) to generate a flat file of records that contain the data attributes to update a financial accounting system to reflect the billing.
II. WISL Webbill Data Collection Routine
1. Access to the routine is controlled by the licensee on a website provided by the licensee. Certain data required for the transactions to be generated for the target WISL system will be retrieved automatically from a parameter file as part of the authorization process.
2. Customer/consignee, city points and province/state files may be used to facilitate effective and accurate collection of probill data. These files would be downloaded periodically from the licensee's server that runs the target WISL system.
3. Upon completion of data entry for each probill a transaction is generated to be stored and sent in batch(via FTP) to the target WISL system on the licensee's server.
4. Upon completion of data entry for each probill a transaction may be optionally generated to be stored and sent in batch(via e-mail) to the source carrier's e-mail address.
III. Batch Maintenance
The transaction batches generated by the web based interactive routine are input to the target WISL system using the normal mechanism provided with all the usual reporting available.
