WISL offers a point of sale configuration that is designed to integrate with a standard IBM clone PC running any Microsoft supported workstation to handle point of sale needs(WATPOS) and also serve as a PC workstation for other applications. The key software ingredients of the platform are:

1. AccuTerm terminal emulation software

2. WISLKEY which provides for definition of the keyboard to suit specific needs

3. WISLSER which integrates the facilities of AccuTerm to address the communication requirements of an authorization pin pad and a serial scanner

Although specifying a standard IBM clone PC insures that the system will run the Windows  OS, there are some further required specifications that are necessary to properly support WATPOS:

1. A separate(non-serial) mouse connector

2. Two serial/USB ports

3. A separate network connection(usually ethernet)

Standalone Feature

UniVerse that runs under  Windows 2000/2003, offers the capability for the PC platform implementation of WATPOS. The terminal emulation supported is ACCUTERM.  The system does support auxiliary serial connections so it will accept input from a serial scanner but it cannot support the communication required to handle WISL Bank Authorization.

FTP transfer procedures are provided to handle transfer of current PLU and etc data to the PC platforms and the transfer of transaction batches to the server.

There is also a capability to allow acceptance of credit cards(through the keyboard reader) and storage of the transactions to be handled as force posts upon availability of the server.

There is a license fee and an annual maintenance fee for the UniVerse DBMS, an initial installation fee. Support for the Standalone feature is included with the maintenance fee for WISL Register Software.
