KP Holly Springs began using WISL Distribution Control for generating
shipping documentation in the spring of 1997. The utilization of the truck modelling
facility was initiated in fall 1999.
Distribution is a significant component in the end cost of
product. Optimizing the use of distribution facilities and providing freight documentation
and useful customer information are the goals of the distribution control information
system.
Load Unit Modelling
All outstanding customer orders are modelled in specified loading
units by destination.
Truck Modelling
Variable parameters, rating and routing considerations combine to
determine the optimal distribution to customers.
Picking/Packing
Utilizing the accepted model, documents and trip records are
generated that provide the basis for picking and packing the product for loading and
distribution.
WISL Distribution Control
WISL Distribution Control accepts order data from the corporate
information system and provides modelling facilities based on mathematical algorithms and
interface with PC Miler to optimize the generation of loading units and trips for
distribution. The trip records generated are utilized with hand held RF based data
collection terminals to control the picking and loading processes.
